PROTEIN KNOWLEDGE

Protein is built from building blocks of amino acids. Our bodies obtain amino acids in several ways. We create amino acids, we modify amino acids and we get some amino acids (essential amino acids) from outside sources. Food and Supplements are outside sources! Lack of amino acids mean lack of protein and lack of protein can cause growth failure, loss of muscle mass, decreased immune system, decreased function of the heart and sometimes death. Protein is found in muscle, bone, skin, hair and body tissue. Take a good look at your daily protein intake and ask the following questions. How much protein do I ingest daily? How much protein do I need daily? What are my protein food and supplement sources? To help answer your protein questions, Diet Architects recommend that you keep a food diary for at least 3 days, identify your protein sources from the food diary and calculate your protein grams from the food diary. Protein information charts are available free on the internet such as Pinterest.
